Investigating the pulse short electric arc milling of Ti6Al4V alloy

In this study, the machining characteristics of pulse short arc milling (SEAM) Ti6Al4V alloy were studied. regard, influence SEAM parameters on material removal rate (MRR), relative electrode wear ratio (REWR), and surface integrity is A wide variety processing parameters, including different voltages, frequencies, duty cycles, flushing pressures, rotation speeds, feed rates, are considered in investigation. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrograph (EDS), micro-hardness analysis applied to analyze results. Moreover, a multichannel data acquisition system used measure gap voltage current. Obtained results cover variation MRR, REWR, roughness (Ra), average resolidified layer thickness, heat-affected zone thickness with parameters. Furthermore, morphology chemical composition negative growth REWR Based obtained results, microstructure workpiece cross-section confirmed. This study provides basis for high-quality technology difficult-to-machine (DTM) materials enter semi-finishing field.
